Juneteenth

Main Street America Insurance is celebrating Juneteenth with activities throughout the month.;

"Juneteenth marks a significant milestone in our nation’s history” said Hollie Carter, Manager Business and Community Impact. “Recognizing the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans is important to our company and our employees. Part of fostering an inclusive workplace is providing opportunities to learn from our collective history and its impacts across various communities.”

Multiple events will be offered:

  • Renowned commentator, writer and television host, Melissa Harris-Perry will join us for a moderated talk exploring the history and significance Juneteenth.
  • Thought leader, bridge-builder, mental health champion and #1 best-selling author, Dr. Robin Smith will share her perspective and insights on topics like systemic racism, grief and loss and discrimination based on gender and sexual orientation.
  • United Way of NE Florida will join our Jacksonville, FL office to create DIY C.R.O.W.N. (Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair) hair kits. Kits will be dispersed to non-profit partners serving the homeless or veteran populations and distributed to students.
  • Virtual donation drives throughout the month focusing on various needs affecting communities of color and LGBTQ+ including:
